Yukata Dressing Class

Daytime Class: 3-4:30pm
Evening Class: 6pm-7:30pm

(3 Classes) $185 for JASWDC Members or
$215 for Non-JASWDC Members

Students who know how to wear kimono can join the latter 2 sessions for practice.
(2 Classes) $145 for JASWDC Members or
$165 for non-JASWDC Members

Students who wish to only attend the final class to practice tying a han-haba obi.

Students who register for 2 or 3 sessions will receive a complimentary biyou-eri (white collar)

Classes are limited to 6 individuals (minimum 2)


Over the 3-week course, students will learn the following:

  1. Yukata overview, yukata equipment overview, experience wearing yukata over Western clothing
    (anyone with experience wearing kimono can skip this session)
  1. Learn to wear the yukata
  2. Wear the yukata/tie the obi sash

Any necessary kimono equipment, clothing, etc., can be purchased directly from the kimono instructor.


Instructor: Hideko Uchiyama, from the Hakubi School of Kimono

Since moving to the United States in 2013, Hideko Uchiyama has privately taught 12 semesters of kimono dressing with over 30 students graduating from her classes. She frequently plans and conducts Japanese culture events and workshops relating to kimono culture.
