Have you ever wanted to take your interest in anime or your fandom to the next level? Lauren Orsini, a journalist, author, and JASWDC member, will discuss her career in fandom journalism: what it is, how she got there, and how you can do the same. Lauren will also talk about the process of launching an anime blog from start to finish. If you’ve ever thought about starting a blog or writing professionally about the niche things you love, or have an interest in fandom studies and niche journalism, this is the perfect way to get started in the field. Lauren has been there before, and she knows exactly how to help!

Lauren Orsini is a web developer, anime blogger, and avid student of fan culture. Her reporting has appeared on ReadWrite, CNN, Forbes, Kotaku, PBS, the Daily Dot, and numerous other outlets. She has written or contributed to several books, most recently Cosplay: The Fantasy World of Role Play. She is also a web developer who specializes in WordPress theme building.
