The Japan-America Society of Washington DC (JASWDC) invites you to join us in welcoming the “Next Generation of Japanese leaders” who will visit America on the Japan Global Initiative (JGI). We will start the evening off with a happy hour followed by a cross-cultural roundtable discussion. The DC Roundtable aims to bring together the JGI students with Washingtonians to discuss a number of topics in a friendly, no-pressure situation. JASWDC will provide the topics and get the conversation going on social, political, and economical points, such as—
• What do you think about the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and the preparations so far?
• How are women’s issues handled differently in the U.S. and Japan?
• Are you optimistic about the future of US-Japan trade relations?
• Should the Japanese education system change in order to promote greater English language proficiency?
JGI is an institution that provides support and opportunities to the young generation in order to enlighten and raise young professionals and young leaders with global insight and mindsets through educational and cultural activities. The 2017 cohort comes from Utsunomiya University (Tochigi), Chuo University (Tokyo), and Toyo University (Tokyo).
