Beginner’s Kimono Dressing Class

Classes are limited to 4 individuals

 

Over the 6-week course, students will learn the following:

  1. Kimono overview, kimono equipment overview, experience wearing kimono over Western clothes
  2. How to wear kimono undergarments, wear kimono
  3. How to dress in the kimono
  4. How to tie the obi sash
  5. How to wear the kimono and obi
  6. Pointers for dressing in kimono smoothly, appropriate hairstyling for kimono

 

Any necessary kimono equipment, clothing, etc., can be purchased directly from the kimono instructor.

Instructor: Hideko Uchiyama, from the Hakubi School of Kimono

Since moving to the United States in 2013, Hideko Uchiyama has privately taught 12 semesters of kimono dressing with over 30 students graduating from her classes. She frequently plans and conducts Japanese culture events and workshops relating to kimono culture.
